If you enter a part onto a WIP that is out-of-stock, for which there is no free stock, or you set the part to a backorder status of V (VOR B/O), the system provides the ability to see when the part will be available from stock, and display the stock record.
To display stock availability:
Raise a Point-of-Sale WIP, and enter the part number in the New product group box.
The Part Details form is displayed.
Note: If the part is out-of-stock, the status of the part is set to 1 (LOST STK).
Update the part details as necessary, set the part to the required status and click OK.
The part is loaded onto the WIP.
Click the icon.
The Stock Availability form is displayed.
Tip: Double-click a line to display the stock record.
Click the Close button to return to the WIP.
This form is displayed when you click the icon on the Point-of-Sale form. From this form you can display the date when parts will be available.
For each part on the WIP that is out of stock, for which there is no free stock or at status V (VOR B/O), the following details are displayed:
Part number: The part number from the stock file
Description: A description of the part
When: The date when the part will be available. The system checks the Purchase Control purchase transactions (ptran) file looking for parts at S status and, if it finds the part, displays the date expected. If the part is not found, and the status of the part line on the WIP is S, the system calculates the date when the part will arrive by adding the default lead time from the Stock Management product group record to today's date. If the status of the part line on the WIP is V, the system adds the VOR lead time on the SM product group to today's date to calculate an expected delivery date.
Note: The system does not take into account non-delivery dates (Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holidays) when calculating an expected delivery date.
However, the following exception applies, if the PC MULTI-SOURCE MENU is enabled on your system and there is a record for the supplier of the part in the PC_suply for an order status S or V. The lead time against this record will be used without any other calculation being made.
Note: At the bottom of the form, the system displays the earliest overall date when all the parts will be available.
