This form is part of the sequence of forms for creating a used vehicle quotation. See the Used Vehicles section for instructions and general tips on this process. It can also be accessed by selecting Finance company from the Edit menu of the Enquiry Builder.
There are three possible levels of authority with regard to the ability to offer finance schemes to customers, set in Salesperson settings:
If you do not have the authority to offer finance, this form is not displayed. If the quotation is subsequently turned into an order, the payment method will be set to Cash Payment. It may be necessary, to use the Sales staff menu option of the Enquiry Builder to send the quotation to your business manager for completion.
If you have the authority to offer finance, see to the section on Selecting Finance Schemes.
If you can assume the authority to offer finance, see the section below.
Initially, upon entering the Select Payment Method form, the only option that is available is Cash Payment. You can select this (by left-clicking so that a tick is displayed in the same row) and click the Next button to proceed with the quotation without finance, should this be the customer's choice.
However, some users can get a full list of finance scheme by selecting the Assume authority to offer finance option on the File menu, or by clicking the toolbar icon. The Assume Authority form is displayed which allows users to select the manager with whom they confirmed the decision to offer finance in person. The system will then return to the Select Payment Method form and display all available finance schemes. See the Selecting Finance Schemes section below.
Note: A customer must have been previously selected for the Assume Authority facility to work. This is because a contact must be made in the manager's diary and this can only be done if the customer is known.
The finance schemes appropriate to the current vehicle are displayed, as defined by the Finance maintenance form.
Tip: If is recommended that you specify the vehicle for the current quotation before selecting a finance scheme.
The following details are displayed for each scheme:
Short: The code for the finance company offering the scheme.
Type: The finance scheme type code.
Description
Finance Company: The full name of the finance company offering the scheme.
Select schemes by left-clicking on the corresponding lines in the grid. A tick is displayed to the left of each selected scheme. If a finance scheme has been set up with notes or a web page, an information symbol is displayed. Left-click on the symbol to display the associated information.
At least one option must be selected. If only one scheme is selected, clicking the Next button will use that scheme to calculate the payment figures for the quotation. If up to three schemes are selected the Finance Comparison form is displayed. If four or more schemes are selected the Next button is disabled.
Note: The Cash Payment option is always available at the end of the list. Depending on parameters set in Salesperson settings this may be selected by default. Alternatively, up to three finance schemes may be set up to be selected by default.
The small unlabelled field below the finance schemes grid displays the interest rate when a scheme is selected. The figure is disguised by multiplying by 100, e.g. if 750 is displayed the interest rate for the selected scheme is 7.5%.
