Introduction

This Autoline GM Exchange integration software works in parallel with existing GENERAL MOTORS products that transfer data to DCS2. Each product now submits payloads to the GM Exchange directory on the Autoline server instead. Exchange 1.1 re-directs the transmission of the export files Autoline sends to GME, and uploads the import files GME sends to a dealership.

The Exchange daemon monitors the transfer directory for payloads, which it forwards to the Aftersales server. Transactions are split into two types:

Transferring Inbound Payloads to GM

On generation of a warranty, parts order, or Retail Inventory Management (RIM) extract, the existing programs re-direct the payload to the Exchange directory as per parameter set-up. The Autoline Exchange software transfers the claim, stock order, or RIM file, to the Aftersales server. On receipt of the payload into the General Motors network, a receipt is generated, which is collected and logged by the Autoline Exchange daemon against the appropriate inbound transaction. You can use the Management interface to check the status of an inbound data file. After a transmission has been reported as being delivered, it has been forwarded to the GM Exchange Communication Tier (ECT).

Transferring Outbound Payloads from General Motors

Periodically, the Autoline Exchange daemon monitors, and collects, outbound payloads from the Aftersales server. These payloads can be one of the following types:

The outbound payloads are then unpacked and stored in the outbound directory in the franchise transfer directory where the relevant Autoline product will collect the data file and process it accordingly.

Set-up

Before you start to use the program, you must ensure that the Autoline system is set up correctly. This is normally performed by, or on advice from, a consultant.
