Recalling an enquiry record does not involve CESAR, it merely accesses the information stored in Autoline. CESAR becomes involved only when you change the options of the vehicle configuration that are the responsibility of the manufacturer.
Note: CESAR is concerned primarily with factory options.
Each time an enquiry/quote/order and so on is re-called, two checks are made. These are to see if it has been validated against CESAR and to ensure the CESAR offer expiry date is still valid. This information is contained in the Enquiry Search Results form, which shows a red X in the CSR Valid column if the record needs validating or the offer has expired. Valid records have a green tick in the CSR Valid column.
If the columns are blank, that is the CSR expiry date is / / and the CSR Valid flag is blank, the quote has never been validated by CESAR.
If you change the factory options of an enquiry record created using CESAR, Autoline behaves differently depending on whether the connection to CESAR is available or not.
If you amend an enquiry, CESAR downloads a further configuration to Showroom. If you change the offer vehicle configuration, when you return from CESAR, Autoline displays an Options Compare form listing the new and previous specifications side-by-side. It enables you to identify any differences, but you can only accept the new one.
The Enquiry Search Results form contains some grid columns of particular significance to CESAR:
CESAR Expiry: Wholesale offer expiry date if the vehicle configuration has previously been downloaded from CESAR. If the offer has expired, CESAR is invoked automatically when it is loaded and you must configure and download a new offer.
CSR Valid: Indicates whether the record has been validated against CESAR. This is required to ensure the vehicle can be built, and may occur in instances where the link to CESAR was not possible or lost partway through. (This flag is held against the quote within the CESAR configuration details in Manufacturer Systems). If it has not been validated against CESAR, the next time it is recalled, an attempt to connect to CESAR is made automatically. It can have the following values:
A red X indicates that either the record needs validating or the offer has expired. The former can occur when the link to CESAR was unavailable or lost partway through the vehicle quotation process.
A green tick represents a valid offer
A blank CSR Valid field indicates that the enquiry represented by the line has yet to be validated by CESAR
CSR Stat: Indicates the CESAR offer status. In general, it will be one of the following: Offer, Reservation request or Order. However, the status codes behind these are user definable and can be defined in the status mapping table (MS.MB.csstm). The short code is displayed here:
Offer: The configuration has been confirmed by CESAR as valid and the wholesale offer data has been downloaded into Showroom
Reservation request: CESAR enables creation of an enquiry on an allocation (production slot), the dealer creating a reservation request on a vehicle already reserved by another dealer, that is, join a waiting list for that vehicle. If the first dealer in the waiting list does not accept the offer, CESAR automatically shifts the offer to the second dealer in the waiting list. If the second dealer in the list does not accept the offer within a time limit, CESAR allocates the offer to the next dealer in the waiting list, and so on.
Order: Offer has been accepted by the dealer. Autoline's Vehicle stock books module receives the order confirmation data from CESAR.
To amend an enquiry:
When recalling a quotation, available options depend on the status of the enquiry. The example here is a recalled enquiry at O (order) status:
From the master menu select the Showroom CRM module and the appropriate Company.
The Showroom Main menu is displayed.
Select the Quotations option.
The Showroom Customer Enquiries form is displayed.
Tip: See the New Vehicles process for principal menus and toolbar icons.
Select the Recall Enquiry option.
The Find Customer Enquiries form is displayed.
Select status O ordered from the drop-down button adjacent to the ...that are status radio button and click Next
.
The Enquiry Search Results form is displayed, listing vehicles at status O.
Select a quotation line and click Next .
The Recalling A Vehicle Order form is displayed.
Select the Change the order radio button and click Next .
One of two things happens:
If the enquiry/order has already been validated by CESAR: The Enquiry Builder (Cash Estimate/Order/Invoice) form is displayed. When changes are complete, the original enquiry/quote/order record is stored at X status and the amended record must be stored at least at enquiry status.
Tip: If CESAR is unavailable, you can make the changes using Autoline Showroom in off-line mode, which changes the order record's CESAR validity status to N. The record must be re-validated by CESAR when it becomes available. In contrast, changing options maintained at the dealer, such as warranty, dealer-fitted options, bonuses and insurance, do not affect the validity of the CESAR offer.
If CESAR has not yet validated the enquiry/order, Autoline's CESAR browser connects you to the CESAR internet site and, when you have changed the order details in CESAR, it downloads the order record back to Showroom, which displays the Enquiry Builder (Specification confirmation) form.
Tip: For instructions on using the CESAR internet site, please refer to Mercedes-Benz documentation.
Note: Currently CESAR does not enable the changing of an enquiry record's vehicle. To change the vehicle you must reject the offer or amend the existing offer in Showroom. If, during that process, the connection to CESAR fails before you choose the new vehicle, the previous vehicle details will have been lost. In that case, you have to create a new enquiry from the beginning.
