Post Accruals

This option scans the accruals file, and posts to the Nominal Ledger accounts buffer, all accruals that:

The Post accruals run can produce two types of output, Daybook and Audit Trail.

Daybook: This can be printed immediately on completion of the posting run, as required using the Print daybook option on the main accruals menu, printing Nominal Ledger daybooks (see Nominal Ledger manual), or automatically by your system 'End-of-day' run.

Audit trail: This, in fact, is a simple check list of accruals included in a posting run, especially useful for 'local' filing if daybooks are printed and filed in another department.

Tip: You may wish to view System Parameters regarding the control of when and if the Daybook and Audit Trail outputs are printed.

Accruals that are flagged 'Auto reverse' have equal and opposite postings dated in the following period automatically generated. A system parameter controls whether the 'reversals' are dated at the start or end of their relevant period.

Selecting the Option

On selecting the option displays a Post accruals form containing a message giving the posting date to be used on the run should you proceed. This date is the last day of your current Nominal Ledger period, and cannot be edited.

Three buttons are on the form. These are Process, Print Daybook and Exit Clicking the Exit button returns you to the main accruals menu, whilst clicking the Process button proceeds with the posting run. If the posting run is successful you may Print the daybook. To do this you should click the Print daybook button, which becomes enabled when the tasks associated with clicking the Process button have been completed.

Help: Displays help in your default company browser.
