The Build Glass Franchise Data option allows you to import and update franchise data information as supplied by Glass. Depending on which service is subscribed to, Glass can provide updated franchise information in the following areas in varying frequencies, typically monthly:
The options listed below allow the user to build this database by importing the raw data files supplied by Glass's, converting these to intermediate files, before finally being converted into franchise data files that are used by the Autoline software.
Choose one of the options listed below to manipulate the raw data supplied by Glass or to manage existing data files.
Following is a brief description of the options available within this program.
Select radio button to process the options listed below:
Upload PC File: This option uploads the Glass's raw data files from the PC across to the server. When this option is selected it checks the system parameter DOS directory for files to identify where the raw data files are currently held on the local PC. If any raw data files are located they will be displayed in the window below. Highlight the data file before clicking on the process button to invoke the upload. The raw data files are transferred and stored on the server in 'Directory on host for files' . This process must be run before the files can be converted and updated into franchise data files.
Tip: Glass raw data is compressed data and can be obtained directly from Glass's subject to subscription. It should be saved into the PC directory as specified within the System parameters - Franchise data import directory.
Import,convert & update: This option will complete all processes to transform the raw data files into franchise data files once they have been uploaded to the server. When this options is selected it will display a box with the choice of files to import.
The Glass's raw data is split and supplied in various elements, which ultimately control the level of detail that the final franchise data files contain. When Import,convert & update Convert is selected, the program will identify which elements of the raw data are present and allow the user to optionally select or deselect which of these to process.
On completion of the first stage, but before the update, the user is asked to select the manufacturer from which the franchise data will be updated from. (This will depend on the service subscribed to). Once the manufacturer is selected, the process is enabled allowed the user to continue with the update routine. When the update runs, a progress window is displayed to show the progress of the update.
Tip: Since the update part takes quite a while, it is recommended that it is run out of normal working hours. This option should be run from a PC terminal.
View log: Displays a log of the import.
Show error messages Any error messages will be reported during the process.
Sound notification Sound notification if terminal being used has sound functionality.
Log file Produces a log of import to be viewed , Untick if not required
Create all options in a pack Automatically creates all options that are within known packs.
Note: Some of the above options are only enables with certain functions.
Buttons:
Process: Click to process the required data.
Exit Returns to the Import menu.
Help: Displays help on the current application in your default company browser.
