The Guaranteed Price Service System package (GPSS) is Volvo's menu pricing package containing parts, labour and lubricants. The Volvo Standard Time Guide (VSTG) contains labour codes and times only (no parts or lubricants) specific to a Volvo variant. The GPSS/VSTG data is provided by Volvo via tape or ISDN, and is imported to the Autoline system and formatted into the appropriate databases.
A Volvo GPSS/VSTG interface has been developed to run as an integral part of the Point-of-Sale (POS) system. It allows the creation of estimates, job cards and invoices, and provides a quick and easy way of loading regularly performed jobs onto a Work-in-Progress (WIP) record. The menu prices are calculated at the point of selection in POS based upon the current retail price of parts and labour, the standard VAT rate, and any discounts to which the customer is entitled.
Note: Wherever the retail price is specified in this help system, it is defined as the current retail price of parts and labour, plus VAT. The labour value is based on the labour rate multiplied by the time allowed.
Some jobs within the standard Volvo GPSS package are flagged as Volvo Fast Track (VFT). These jobs are selected in the normal way via the Volvo GPSS/VSTG interface. VFT prices are based on the job values and parts prices held within the GPSS package, with an overriding price on both parts and labour. These rates for VFT are identified within the menu pricing parameters. . Reporting facilities are available that allow you to analyse GPSS menu sales and lost sales. For details of these reports and the Volvo Fast Track initiative, refer to the topic on Menu Pricing Reports (VFT).
Note: Before you can use the Volvo GPSS/VSTG interface in POS, you must ensure that the Autoline system is set up correctly.
The Menu pricing maintenance menu is displayed when the GPSS option is selected from the VOLVO OPERATIONS menu. From this menu you can set up and maintain menu pricing on the Autoline system.
