CRM Campaign Form (SMS)

Short Message Service (SMS) is a method of sending (texting) an E-mail to a digital mobile phone. A facility is available within Point-of-Sale that allows you to send SMS text messages to mobile phones via a special Nokia CardPhone 2.0 device installed in the Kprint server PC. This is a useful facility within the Service department, for example, to advise the customer that a vehicle is ready for collection. A CRM customer record does not have to be loaded onto the WIP in order to send a message although, if it is, the mobile phone number is automatically retrieved when you select the SMS option.

Note: In order for this facility to work, the UserEnv.txt file must be set up correctly, and a printer that identifies the hostname or IP address of the SMTP server. This is normally done on set-up by an Autoline consultant.

To send an SMS message:

  1. Access a Point-of-Sale WIP.

  2. Select the SMS option from the CRM menu.

The SMS message form is displayed.

  3. Complete the form and click OK.

    The message is sent.

SMS Message Form

The SMS Message form is displayed when you select the SMS option from the CRM menu on the Point-of-Sale form. From this form you can send an SMS message to a digital mobile phone.

To: This is the mobile phone number of the person to whom the message is to be sent. If a CRM customer record exists for the customer entered on the WIP, and a mobile phone number is entered on the customer record, the system automatically defaults the mobile phone number into this field. Otherwise, enter the mobile phone number of the recipient.

Msg: A list of default SMS messages can be set up on the system via the SO MISCELLANEOUS OPTIONS menu. If default messages exist, they can be accessed via the drop-down menu. Alternatively, leave the field set to None if you do not want to use one of the default messages.

Text: If the Msg field is set to None, this box is left empty. Enter the text message that you want to send. If a default SMS message is selected, the default message text is automatically defaulted into this box. Amend or append text to this message, as required. The message can be up to 160 numeric or alphanumeric characters in length.
