This is were you create the skills that are required for each technician to allow the loading of work into workshop loading. The skill is assigned to the technicians in the Technician ability form and when you are loading work in to workshop loading the skill on each labour line is only loaded to the technician that has the skill to do the work. This controls the amount of work that can be loaded per day when you are assigning the work in workshop loading.
What do you want to do?
The Skills form is displayed when you select the Skills option from the WORKSHOP LOADING Menu. From this form you can create, amend or delete skill records.
Skills details
Order: Displays the order of the records.
Note: By default all records are sequenced in alphabetical order.
Code: The skill identification code used in the range A-Z or 0-9.
Description: A description of the skill, a 29 character alpha-numeric field.
Shortname: a 5 character alpha-numeric field.
PUSH BUTTONS
Exit: Returns you to the WORKSHOP LOADING Menu.
Help: Displays help on the current application using the default browser.
Create: Allows you to create a new skill record.
Amend: Allows you to amend a skill record.
Delete: Allows you to delete a skill record.
Sequence: Allows you to determine the sequence in which skill records are displayed, this also controls the skill order when loading work into workshop loading.
If required, you can create a skill record.
To create a skill record:
The Skills form is displayed.
The Create form is displayed.
The record is created.
The Create form is displayed when you click the Create button on the Skills form. From this form you can create a new skill record completing the data fields and editing the skill grid.
Field Descriptions
Code: Enter an appropriate code in the range A-Z or 0-9.
Description: Enter the description of the skill, a 29 character alpha-numeric field.
Shortname: Enter the shortname, a 5 character alpha-numeric field.
Resource type: The resource type T: Technician. This will be used for all skill records that require a technician, for example mechanical, electrical, gearbox.
Sales mix percentage: Enter the percentage or hours for the amount of work for a particular skill that you want to load into the workshop. Once the sales mix percentage or hours have been reached you will get a message displayed in Point-of-Sale and depending on your sales mix priority you can continue to load work.
Tip: If you use both percentage and hours the highest figure set will be used when loading work into the workshop.
Note: If converting from old Workshop Loading to new Workshop Loading, check the Resource groups in Resource maintenance and use them to set up your skill codes.
This skill also requires
A particular skill can be dependent on one or two additional 'non-human' resources, such as MOT bays and special test equipment etc. When set against a skill and loaded into workshop loading the dependent resource will also be booked.
Additional resource 1: Select the required resource from the drop down menu.
And/or: Select one of the following:

Note: If the Or option is chosen, the select dependant resource form will be activated within Point-of-Sale allowing selection of the required additional resource.
Additional resource 2: Select the required resource from the drop down menu.
If required, you can amend a skill record.
To amend a skill record:
From the WORKSHOP LOADING Menu, select the Shifts option.
The Skills form is displayed.
Position the cursor over the record that you want to amend, and click the Amend button.
Tip: Alternatively, double-left click the record to select it.
The Amend form is displayed.
Amend the details as required.
When you have completed your amendments, click the OK button.
The changes are saved, you are returned to the Skills form.
The Amend form is displayed when you click the Amend button on the Skills form. From this form you can amend team records.
Tip: Alternatively, position the cursor over the record that you want to amend, and double-click the left mouse button.

Note: None of the fields are editable.
