From the System maintenance menu, you can control certain System maintenance functions. This menu is displayed when you select the System maintenance option from the CD Valuation main menu.
Prevent/allow access: Select this option to prevent users from entering the Valuation module. For example, in order to verify files, this option is used. By preventing access you can stop new users entering the module. When current users leave the module, this option will prevent them from re-entering it.
Reset in use flags: Select the Reset in use flags program to run down the Vehicle records, resetting any Vehicle records that are locked in use. Vehicle records would only normally be locked if another user is accessing the same Vehicle record as you at the same time. However, in the case of power cuts, or somebody inadvertently switching off a terminal that is accessing a Vehicle record, it is possible for a Vehicle record to become locked.
Verify files: This program is used to verify that all the files within the Valuation database are intact and that no corruption has occurred. It is a vital routine to carry out after a hardware or software fault has occurred.
Record maintenance: Displays the CD default record maintenance where initial default records can be amended.
File usage statistics: This program provides you with a list of all the files within the Valuation database and the percentage 'in use' situation as far as each one is concerned. It displays the file sizes, the number of records within a file and the percentage of the file currently being used. The end-of-day program will automatically include any files on a report which have exceeded their set warning level, but this program can be used to monitor the situation in between times.
System parameters: The Valuation System parameters control how the module operates for individual dealers, and are used to allow variable operation of the system according to the management style and data structure of the dealer(s) concerned.
