Using the Ford eCAT EPC Integration

Note: The parameters must have been set up first of all. The daemon also has to be running before you begin. It can be accessed via Ford eCAT Administrator if you need to start it manually.

To get started:

  1. After the first connection message that checks Autoline is running, go into Point-of-Sale module.

You are going to open a Point-of-Sale (POS) session.

  2. Select either Parts, or Service, from the Select Item from List form, for the appropriate Point-of-Sale Form.

    The Operator form is displayed.

  3. Enter the Operator code (and password if one exists), then click OK.

Note: These are already set up in your eCat user account. They must be the same as the DMS User Name and DMS Password respectively in that account.

    This logs you in.

  4. From the Point-of-Sale Form, select the customer or account, then set the franchise to Ford using the drop-down Drop-down menu in the New product group-box.

Note: If you cannot see the drop-down, proceed as follows unless the EPC EPC2.gif button on the toolbar is not enabled. If it is not enabled, see Troubleshooting.

The EPC menu bar option is enabled on the Links menu. The EPC EPC2.gif button is enabled on the toolbar.

  5. Click EPC EPC2.gif on the Point-of-Sale Form's toolbar, or select Links > EPC from the menu bar.

The Ford eCAT form is displayed. This form must remain open for the duration of the following eCat session, otherwise DMS integration does not take place.

Warning: Closure of this form prevents DMS stock availability enquiries and affects server performance.

    The following message is displayed:

    Waiting for data from eCAT...

You are about to enter an eCat session. You are referred to eCat documentation in the event of any problems.

While the Ford eCAT Form is open, the POS session information is also displayed in the Ford eCAT Administrator Form's grid, and a Ford eCat session is launched. The grid shows that a POS session is open and who is using it (the User id).

The system navigates to the Ford Ecat Application Log-in page.

  6. Enter your User Name and Password, and click Submit.

Another Ford Ecat application form is displayed.

  7. Click DMS. This button is located in the upper, left-hand corner of the form.

The DMS Connection Settings form is displayed.

  8. Select option button 2. 'According to DMS Current Session' then click Connect.

Autoline accepts the connection to the DMS, and eCat displays the Integration with DMS form showing the details from the Autoline Ford eCAT Form. The following message is displayed:

Connection to DMS was established successfully

If connection is not successful, verify that the DMS session is on-line and try again.

A shopping list name must be selected or created as per standard eCat functionality before eCat displays information about a car. ECat can then obtain part stocking information from Autoline as part of eCat's standard operation.

Details of the dialogue between Ford eCat and Autoline are displayed in the list-box of the Ford eCAT Form.

  9. Click Transmit to DMS.

    Transmit to DMS? is displayed.

  10. Click OK to confirm transmission.

    The shopping list is transmitted.

When Autoline has processed the transmission, the following message is displayed:

Successful transmission is reported from DMS. DMS reported order status: OrderOK. What would you like to do?

Important: In Autoline, the EPC dialogue is closed and the item is placed on the Work-in-Progress, or the process of attaching an item to the WIP is started. Autoline creates stock records from the price file and updates the model group code in CRM if they do not already exist.

Depending on which item is transmitted, different dialog boxes are displayed in Point-of-Sale - for example: Surcharge options, or Menu Negotiation.
