The key card reader system consists of three main components:
A key card is a plastic rectangle with various features such as buttons to lock and unlock a vehicle by remote control. Additionally, it contains electronic circuitry that stores maintenance data about the vehicle.
The card reader is a box, about 15 cm long and 8 cm wide, that connects to a local computer. There is a recess on top of the reader in which you place a key card. Although called a reader, it can also write data to the key card, enabling you to use a computer program to amend the data stored on the key card.
The Autoline key card reader program displays, graphically and in text, data stored on the key card that is placed in the recess on top of the reader. You can also use it to amend the data stored on the key card and/or amend the data about the key card vehicle stored in Autoline, and you can use data from a key card to add labour lines to a WIP record.
This help system describes the Autoline key card reader program. Its main form, the Renault key card data form, resembles the Renault CarteClef program, which is used to operate the card reader independently of Autoline.
Note: Please refer to separate Renault documentation for information about the CarteClef program, the key card, and the card reader hardware.
You can use the card reader in the Manufacturer Systems module and in the Point-of-Sale module of Autoline.
The card reader program is normally set up by, or under the guidance of, an Autoline consultant.
The key card reader is connected to a personal computer through a USB connector. The computer uses a driver to control the key card reader.
This menu is displayed when you select the Key card reader option from the RENAULT OPERATIONS menu. It enables you to compare and align data stored on the key card with data for the same vehicle stored in Autoline. It also enables you to access the parameters and additional vehicle data files.
Parameters: Provides direct access to the card reader Autoline parameters. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Compare key card and DMS: Enables you to compare and align data stored on the key card with data for the same vehicle stored in Autoline. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Additional vehicle data: Provides direct access to the data in the additional vehicle data file, which enables you to check the data stored on the key card against the data on the vehicle record in the Marketing/CRM module of Autoline when an order is invoiced. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
