Using the Card Reader with Autoline

See also Frequently Asked Questions.

When you use the card reader with Autoline (via the Renault key card data form), you can use data from a key card to add labour lines to a WIP.

What do you want to do?

This form is displayed when you select Links > Utilities > Key Reader from the menu bar on the Autoline Point-of-Sale form. It is also displayed when you select the Compare key card and DMS option from the Key reader menu in the Manufacturer Systems module of Autoline.

It enables you to compare data on key cards with equivalent records held in your Autoline system and, where there is a conflict, to reconcile them. It also enables you to use the card data to create or amend a WIP record.

Checking Tyre Pressures, Oil Level, Fuel Level, and/or Exhaust Emission Warnings

Use these checks, based on information on the key card, to add labour lines to a WIP record for the key card vehicle. This procedure assumes a WIP record for the key card vehicle is loaded into the Point-of-Sale form.

To check tyre pressures, oil level, fuel level, and/or exhaust emission warnings:

  1. Double-click the Line column of the WIP line (the left-most cell of the grid row).

The Extra Text form is displayed containing the following information from the key card:

  2. If OBD indicator = 1, add a labour line to investigate an exhaust emission problem.

  3. If the oil level is low (75 percent or less), add a labour line to check the oil level.

  4. If service in month is identified, add a service line.

Creating a Point-of-Sale WIP Labour Line from a Key Card

This procedure assumes that a live WIP exists for the key card vehicle, to which the new labour line is to be added.

To create a Point-of-Sale WIP labour line from a key card:

  1. If you have not already done so, load the key card in Autoline Point-of-Sale.

Data stored on the key card populates the Renault key card data form.

Tip: If you do not have a WIP record for the key card vehicle already loaded on the Point-of-Sale form, click Search for WIP to select from all live WIP records matching the registration number of the vehicle.

  2. Click Load Vehicle to WIP.

You are returned to the service Point-of-Sale form with the information on the key card and/or the vehicle record in the Marketing/CRM module of Autoline entered as a labour line in the grid.

Note: If you want to continue using the card reader, re-select Renault in the right New product box.

Invoicing a WIP

When you invoice a WIP, provided that a vehicle record is linked to the WIP, if there is an additional vehicle data file for that vehicle, Autoline compares the card details in the additional vehicle data record with the equivalent data in the vehicle record in the Marketing/CRM module. Where they are different, you are prompted to read a card and select between amending the data stored on the key card or amending the vehicle record in the Marketing module of Autoline.

It is envisaged that this will be used mainly to update the key card with the next service date from the vehicle record in the Marketing module of Autoline.
