Location Codes

Locations is only ever available on the Tools menu if the system parameter called Location security setting is set to PN - Use Human resources Locations.

The main function of the location codes is to allow together with the grade field for the access to human resource and leaver records to be controlled at individual user level via the human resources password record, for example, a human resources administrator may only have access to records for a particular part of a business up to and including department team leaders but excluding managers and directors.

To access the Location Codes :-

  1. From the Rev.8 Master Menu, select the Human Resources option and Company you require.

    The Human Resources Password form is displayed.

  2. Enter your human resource password.

    The HUMAN RESOURCES menu is displayed.

  3. Select the Human Resources option.

    The Human Resources record is displayed.

  4. Once a human resource record is selected or initially chosen for creation select the Tools option.

  5. Select the Lookup tables option.

  6. Select the Locations option.

    The Location Codes form is displayed.

The Location Codes form is displayed when the Locations option is selected from the Tools, Lookup files menu or when the Ellipsis button [...] is clicked next to the Location field on the Current Details TAB of the human resources record.

Standard functionality exists that allows you to create and maintain records.

The data can be maintained further by using the Up and Down arrows to move codes around within the grid and also the Insert row, Delete row and Add row ICONs.

Code: The three character code, ideally the code is related to the description.

Location: A 35 character location name description.

Description: A 20 character description.

Note: Other fields are present on the location file which is based on the global system data file but these are not required within the human resources module.
