The facility to populate bin location records is only available if you are required to carry out bin location maintenance by your manufacturer. This function allows you to create or update the bin locations file (SM.binlo) from the stock file. For example, on set-up, you may have imported a stock file to the Autoline system that contains bin locations. When you run the program you are prompted for a start and end bin location, bin description and zone. You have the option to populate the bin locations file with new records only (populate), or to create new records and update the description and zone of any existing records (populate and overwrite).
To populate bin location records:
The STOCK MANAGEMENT menu is displayed.
Select the Miscellaneous options option and click OK.
The SM MISCELLANEOUS OPTIONS menu is displayed.
Select the Populate bin location records option.
The Populate Bin Locations form is displayed.
Select one of the following radio buttons:
Warning: Existing records in the file will only be updated if the populate and overwrite option is selected.
Complete the following fields:
Start location
End location
Description
Bin zone, if applicable
Click the Execute button.
The update is performed.
Note:When this option is run, either by selecting the Execute button with the Populate and Overwrite option chosen on the form or via a timed operation, the part number field within the Bin location maintenance file is updated to reflect the part number whose stock file details on the Quantities tab currently contain the bin code involved.
The Populate Bin Locations form is displayed when you select the Populate bin location records option from the SM MISCELLANEOUS OPTIONS menu. From this form you can populate the bin locations file.
RADIO BUTTONS:
Select one of the following options:
Populate: When you select the Populate option, the system checks that a bin locations file exists. If it does, it compares the bin locations of parts on the stock file within the specified range against the bin locations file. If there are any new bin locations on the stock file, a record is created on the bin locations file for each one, using the description and bin zone that you enter.
Populate and overwrite: When you select the Populate and overwrite option, the system checks that a bin locations file exists. If it does, it compares the bin locations of parts on the stock file within the specified range against the bin locations file. If there are any new bin locations on the stock file, a record is created on the bin locations file for each one, using the description and bin zone that you enter. If the description or bin zones of any existing records on the bin locations file differ from the records on the stock file, the system updates the description and bin zone accordingly.
Complete the following fields:
Start location: Enter the first bin location in the range.
End location: Enter the last bin location in the range.
