The SM MISCELLANEOUS OPTIONS menu is displayed when you select the Miscellaneous options option from the STOCK MANAGEMENT menu. This menu controls certain routine maintenance functions which are set at a lower level of system security than the System Maintenance functions, but which do not constitute daily operational functions. Many of these options should only concern the systems supervisor.
Many of these options have an important bearing on the operation of other parts of the system. For example, some items affect the stock record, purchasing criteria and the Point-of-Sale system.
Warning: Unless the significance of these options is clearly understood, do not make any changes without prior consultation with Autoline support.

Storage types: Enables you to store a part number, bin dimensions and maximum weight against a storage type. This option is displayed only if you are required to carry out bin location maintenance by your manufacturer.
Safety coefficients: Safety coefficients are used to evaluate safe levels of stock for parts. This option enables you to enter up to three safety coefficients to assimilate the Generate Max/Min levels program, which calculates the recommended stocking levels for parts.
Max/min profile: Acts as a visual aid to show you the effect of setting various values within the Max/Min calculation.

Stock provision: This option, if installed, enables you to create a provisional value for depreciation purposes against a specified part or parts. It is also possible, with the relevant system parameter settings, to write off stock values by effecting the average cost of a part or parts.
Stock profiling: This option, if installed, enables customers' stock file, movements and reordering setup to be analysed to establish potential improvement in obsolesce, stock holding and reorder categories. This utility is initially seen as a management reporting tool enabling "What If" calculation queries of the dealership stock, once happy that the reported information accurately reflects the required stocking levels the utility can be processed in "Update" mode, whereby the stocking categories of parts will be maintained.
