Bin Location Maintenance

The bin location maintenance facility is only available if required by your manufacturer, and facilitates the receipt of parts into stock that do not have a bin location.

Bin locations are identified on the Quantities tab of the stock record, and are referenced in two files on the Autoline system: SM.locat and SM.binlo. The bin location maintenance facility allows you to store a part number, bin zone (optional) and storage type against bin locations on the SM.binlo file. Standard functionality exists that allows you to create and maintain records on the file. However, the intention is that most records will initially be generated using a report and subsequently created via the Stock file maintenance option. A facility is also available that allows you to create or update the bin locations file from the stock file.

When you receive a part into stock that does not have a bin location, the system references the SM.binlo file, and gives you the option of only showing all bins that are free. When an appropriate bin is selected, the system updates the details on the parts stock record file once the part is receipted.

Note: The system parameter Create bin mode dictates the action taken when you edit a bin location on the stock record.
