Bin Locations

The facility to maintain bin locations is only available if required by your manufacturer, and facilitates the receipt of parts into stock that do not have a bin location.

Bin locations are identified on the Quantities tab of the stock record, and are referenced in two files on the Autoline system: SM.locat and SM.binlo. The Bin locations option allows you to store a part number and storage type against a bin location on the SM.locat file. Standard functionality exists that allows you to create and maintain records on the file.

When you receive a part into stock that does not have a bin location, the system references the SM.locat file, and gives you the option of all bins that are free. If the part will not fit into the selected bin, the system searches for another storage type. When an appropriate bin is selected, the system updates the records on the SM.binlo file only.

Note: The system parameter Create bin mode dictates the action taken when you edit a bin location on the stock record.

The STOCK MANAGEMENT menu is displayed.

  2. Select the Miscellaneous options option and click OK.
