Workshop Loading forms an integral part of the Point-of-Sale system. It fundamentally performs the same role for labour as Stock Management performs for control of parts. That is to say that it ensures the right amount of labour of each type is available to carry out the work that is necessary. It also ensures that labour that is clocked is properly analysed and costed to the appropriate jobs, and provides a reconciliation between labour bought and labour sold.
clock: This a file that contains all the clocking times analysed by WIP number. This file is primarily used for costing purposes and, for each WIP number resource combination, shows the total time booked to the job. The resource can be broken down into individual line operations.
dplan: This file contains all the loading information for a given WIP. One record exists for each resource required for the job. For each entry, a start day is maintained.
calnd: The calendar file stores the calendar in order to derive shift patterns for different resources.
idlet: The idle time file provides a lookup for different idle times.
resou: The resource file has one record for each technician, and stores data describing the mechanic plus attendance information and non-availability periods. This file is also continuously being updated in order that the clocking system can calculate the appropriate time spent on each job.
Note: A WL Control report is available that includes the weekly and period statistics for efficiency and utilisation, as well as attendance information.
The Point-of-Sale system (POS) allows you to launch Workshop Loading. The options available to you depend on whether labour operations are loaded onto the current WIP.
To launch Workshop Loading:
Access Point-of-Sale.
Select the Load option from the Workshop menu.
Tip: Alternatively press SHIFT + F7 on the keyboard.
The Workshop Launch Control form is displayed.
The options available to you at this point depend on whether labour operations are loaded onto the current WIP:
If labour operations are loaded onto the current WIP, the buttons within the This Job group box are enabled.
If no labour operations are loaded onto the current WIP, the buttons within the Here and Now and Planning group boxes are enabled.
Select the required option.
