The price file software enables you to update the Autoline system with price or supersession data issued by a manufacturer or parts supplier. Ford (FO) and Ford Retail (FR) price and supersession files are currently issued/updated in one of three different ways:
Ford (FO) price files are:
Normally updated by main dealers via the Ford Batch Communication Module (BCM)
Issued to some non-main dealers on tape by the Data & Software Integration (DASI) department at ADP Dealer Services UK Ltd.
Ford Retail (FR) price files are converted to a format recognised by the Autoline system and issued to dealers by DASI at ADP Dealer Services UK Ltd, and uploaded via Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN)
On set-up, and each time a new release of price or supersession data is made available, you must upload the data to the Autoline system. On set-up, this is normally carried out by, or on advice from, an Autoline consultant. Thereafter, it is normally the responsibility of the dealership to keep files up-to-date.
What do you want to do?
Upload price or supersession files via ISDN
Note: For details on the Ford Batch Communication Module, refer to the Ford BCM help system.
This menu is displayed when you select the Parts price file menu option from the FORD OPERATIONS menu. From this menu you can update the Autoline system with a new release of price or supersession data.
Master price file: Enables you to display and maintain records in the master price file. This is normally set up as a priority 5 option.
Supersession chain file: Enables you to display and maintain records in the supersession file. This is normally set up as a priority 5 option.
Update stock from price file: Enables you to update the stock file from the master price file. This is normally set up as a priority 6 option.
Build supersession chains: Enables you to build a supersession chain from the master price file. You can only use this option to build a supersession chain if there is a field on the price file for supersessions. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Price file setup: Enables you to upload and convert price files, and price mapping files if supplied by the manufacturer, from a remote computer. Alternatively, if you receive raw data from the DASI department at ADP Dealer Services UK Ltd, this option is used to convert the data after it is uploaded via ISDN. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Price mapping file: A price mapping file is supplied by the manufacturer if they require the Autoline system to build part numbers in a specific format. Mapping files are uploaded and converted when the Price file setup option is used to load files from a remote computer. The Price mapping file option is only displayed if a price mapping file is supplied, and enables you to display and maintain records in the price mapping file. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Price parameters: Before you can upload price files from a remote system using the Price file setup option, you must ensure that the price parameters are set up correctly. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Load parts data from tape: Enables you to upload price and supersession data from tape. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Load new pricefile (ISDN): Enables you to upload price and supersession data via ISDN. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Discount codes reporting: Enables you to identify discount codes on the price file that do not exist in the Point-of-Sale (POS) discount map. This is normally set up as a priority 1 option.
Automatic price file update: This option is only in use if required by your manufacturer, and enables the automatic upload and conversion of the manufacturer's price and supersession files. This is normally set up as a priority 5 option.
Note: If automatic updates are not in operation for your manufacturer, the following message is displayed when you select the Automatic price file update option: PROGRAM ERROR: No parts update job types defined for this franchise.
