This topic assumes that you are familiar with purchase control.
The surcharge return tracking software is used to control surcharge parts from the main parts supplier -- normally the vehicle manufacturer whom the dealer represents. Alternatively it can be used for all parts containing a surcharge value regardless of franchise or supplier.
New parts (to which surcharge return applies) received from a supplier and old or worn parts returned by a customer entail creating an entry (a 'line') in the surcharge return tracking software.
A database of surcharge tracking records, containing the return details, is held on the Kerridge Autoline system. Whenever an old unit surcharge part is returned via purchase control it is checked against this database to see if there is an outstanding and available label that can be used for its return. If there is, it prompts you to select a returns label. The label is printed for use by the warehouse person responsible for returning the part.
