Users must sometimes be prevented from entering the Asset Register module - for example, if a systems administrator needs to verify files. Using this option, you can stop new users from entering the Asset Register. Also, when current users leave the Asset Register, you can prevent them from re-entering it. It is therefore useful to be able to display all users currently logged into the Asset Register module. You can also clear from the system any spurious data that may have resulted from users' having had a problem with their PC or logging off the Register erroneously; such users are termed illegal users.
To prevent, or allow, access to the Asset Register module:
From the Autoline Master Menu, select the Asset Register module and the Company you require.
The Asset Register Main Menu is displayed.
Select the System maintenance option.
The AR SYSTEM MAINTENANCE Menu is displayed.
Select the Prevent/allow access option.
The Prevent/allow access form is displayed.
The following three options are available:
To prevent or allow access respectively, select, or clear, the Status check-box.
To display users, click Display Users.
To clear illegal users, click Clear Illegal Users.
This form is displayed when you select the System maintenance option from the Asset Register module, then the Prevent/allow access option from the AR SYSTEM MAINTENANCE Menu. It enables you to allow, or prevent, all other users' access to the Asset Register module, or to clear spurious data from the system.
Module: Module identifier
Company: Company identifier
Status: This check-box determines the current status of access to the Asset Register module - whether access is allowed, as follows:
Selecting the check-box prevents users who are permitted to log on to the Asset Register from being able to do so. Typically, you do this prior to running a stand-alone program - that is, one which may be run only when no other person is logged on to the Register.
Clearing the check-box allows all users who are permitted to access the Asset Register to do so. Typically, you do this after selecting the Prevent/allow access option and successfully completing the stand-alone program.
Note: Access must be allowed again from the terminal on which the Prevent/allow access option was originally run.
GRID:
The following information is displayed in the grid when you click Display Users:
Terminal: Number of the terminal currently logged in
Location: Description of the terminal location
User ID: Login code of the user
Note: If a terminal has been incorrectly logged off the Asset Register, and not yet logged back on to the system, the word ILLEGAL is displayed in the User ID column.
Access [mode]: Always I, indicating that these are Internal Users
PUSH BUTTONS:
Exit: Returns you to the AR SYSTEM MAINTENANCE Menu
Help: Allows you to access on-line help for the program
Display Users: Displays all users currently logged into the Asset Register module
Clear Illegal Users: Click to erase any spurious data resulting from illegal log-offs - for example, log-offs that resulted from a system crash or re-boot. Clears all users that are are illegally logged into Autoline. This includes users that may have not logged out properly, or users that have had a problem with their PC.
