The price file software enables you to update the Autoline system with price or supersession data issued by a manufacturer or parts supplier. For dealers on the Renault network, the Autoline system is set up to perform automatic price file updates. Renault currently supply a full price file only, not minor price updates or supersession files. The source price file is transferred via the Renault NET network to a TDFA PC at a dealership nominated by Renault. A Timed Operation runs daily to look for the latest price file in a remote directo ry on the TDFA PC. If a price file exists, it is transferred to the Autoline system via File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and is imported and converted automatically. For further details, refer to Automatic Price File Updates.
In order for an automatic price update to be performed at specific times, an automatic price file update job record must exist, and a daemon control record that is called by a Timed Operation. These records are normally created on set-up by, or on advice from, an Autoline consultant, by running the Automatic price file update option manually. Thereafter, price data is automatically uploaded and converted by the Timed Operation.
When the Automatic price file update option is selected, the main job called FULL is created automatically if it does not already exist, according to preferences specified in the franchise-specific software. The software also creates a Generic File Transfer (GFT) record called PPF-FUL-00, which is required to retrieve the files. The FTP login details for the TDFA PC are entered on the GFT record by the Autoline consultant. During installation of the Renault software, a prompt for a dealer number is also displayed. This is the dealer nominated by Renault to receive the price file because, in some cases, the same physical price table may be shared by more than one dealer.
On set-up, each dealership must nominate a person, such as the Parts Manager, to receive automatic e-mails. The e-mail address of the nominated person is also entered on the GFT record by the Autoline consultant. Each time, the price data source file is transferred successfully to the Autoline system, an automatic e-mail is sent to the nominated person.
This menu is displayed when you select the Parts price file menu option from the RENAULT OPERATIONS menu. From this menu you can update the Autoline system with a new release of price or supersession data.
Master price file: Enables you to display and maintain records in the master price file. This is normally set up as a priority 5 option.
Supersession chain file: Enables you to display and maintain records in the supersession file. This is normally set up as a priority 5 option.
Update stock from price file: Enables you to update the stock file from the master price file. This is normally set up as a priority 6 option.
Build supersession chains: Enables you to build a supersession chain from the master price file. You can only use this option to build a supersession chain if there is a field on the price file for supersessions. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Price file setup: Enables you to upload and convert price files, and price mapping files if supplied by the manufacturer, from a remote computer. Alternatively, if you receive raw data from the DASI department at ADP Dealer Services UK Ltd, this option is used to convert the data after it is uploaded via ISDN. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Price parameters: Before you can upload price files from a remote system using the Price file setup option, you must ensure that the price parameters are set up correctly. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Load parts data from tape: Enables you to upload price and supersession data from tape. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Load new pricefile (ISDN): Enables you to upload price and supersession data via ISDN. This is normally set up as a priority 8 option.
Discount codes reporting: Enables you to identify discount codes on the price file that do not exist in the Point-of-Sale (POS) discount map. This is normally set up as a priority 1 option.
Automatic price file update: This option is currently used by Renault to automatically upload and convert the manufacturer's price file, and is normally set up as a priority 5 option. The update is run automatically by a Timed Operation. Each time a successful transfer is performed, a nominated person is sent an automatic e-mail, and must check the last successful run log to ensure that the transfer resulted in a successful update of the price file. If the update was successful, the stock file can then be updated from the price file in the normal way.
