With model- or variant-specific currency in Franchise Data, there is a potential issue of mixed currencies with regard to a vehicle specification. Whereas the ex-factory content (vehicle; colour; trim, and factory-fitted options) might be in foreign currency set at the Model of variant, some locally supplied options will be priced in base currency at franchise- or global level.
If dealer options priced in base currency are added onto either a vehicle stock record, or a quote, based in foreign currency, they must be converted to foreign currency by using the current, vehicle-sales exchange rate.
In this program, if base-currency items are added to a foreign-currency-priced vehicle or -quote, the base-currency price is converted to the foreign currency of the VSB record or the Showroom quote and uses the same currency rate as the ex-Factory items.
Note: Before using this program, you must ensure that the Autoline system has been set up correctly. This is normally done by, or on advice from, an Autoline consultant. Consultants should refer to the handover document. Ensure that the necessary foreign-currency- and base-currency exchange rates are set up in Nominal Ledger > Bank and currency options > Currency exchange rates. Foreign-currency code in the Model codes needs to be set up for multiple currencies to be activated. (See also: Model Variants.) Table files and parameters must be set up in MS > X3. Base currency must be set in NL System parameters.
Whatever level (Global, Franchise, Model, Variant), a specification line is created at in Franchise Data, determines the currency. Because foreign currency starts at Model level, any specification line created in Franchise data at that level and below - namely model and variant - has the same currency as the model.

To create foreign-currency vehicle records with associated specification lines:
Click Vehicle stockbooks > [Company] > Vehicle Administration.
On the Vehicle Administration form, select New from the menu bar > Yes, to create a new vehicle record.
Select a vehicle model that has been set up as a foreign-currency vehicle within Franchise Data.
When you add specification lines to a VSB record, the currency of the line does not change from the level at which it was created in Franchise Data. However, whatever Display is selected on the VS record (BASE or currency of the model) is what will be seen.
Note: The Display Currency field can be changed by selecting the drop-down button .
Select the Specification tab, then you can add specifications that are priced in both base- and foreign currency.
The following tabs display the values in the currency selected on the Specification tab:
On the Purchase Brief tab in Vehicle Administration, the following, non-recoverable costs must be entered in the same currency as the Display Currency:
The values are converted when Display currency is changed.
The costs are pulled through to the Costs + Profit tab, and displayed in the currency set in Display currency.
In this program, a mixture of base- and foreign-currency options can be added to the New-vehicle price-book quote, and all the values are displayed in the foreign currency.
Note: This functionality is currently for New vehicles only.
To order a multi-currency vehicle:
On the Autoline Master Menu, click Showroom CRM > [Company] > Quotations > New Vehicle.
Select the vehicle model, which should have been set up as a foreign-currency vehicle in Franchise Data module.
In the Confirm Vehicle Selection view of the Showroom Enquiries wizard, the Vehicle price is displayed in foreign currency because the vehicle you selected is a foreign-currency model.
You can add a mixture of base-currency and foreign-currency options to the new-vehicle price-book quote.
All Options/values are displayed in the foreign currency.
Move on to the Purchase summary then the Quote summary.
All values are displayed in the foreign currency.
When you action the order, the core tables are updated with the base-currency values. The SR-quote exchange-rates table in Manufacturer Systems (X3.MS.vmcqu) stores the quote magic-number, exchange rate, and currency code, and is visible in a file viewer to very high-priority users.
Note to System Administrators: For system maintenance and security purposes, the content and function of this table require an access priority of 9. Information regarding Priority 9 functions is normally restricted. If you require assistance, please contact Autoline Software Support.
This SR-quote exchange-rates record is used to calculate the foreign-currency values when you accept and create the foreign-currency order into VSB.
To accept a foreign-currency customer order into Vehicle Stock Books:
On the Autoline Master Menu, click Vehicle stockbooks > [Company] > Accept customer orders (Click the last link to access standard help about accepting customer orders.)

When you have created the vehicle record, you are prompted to view the vehicle with the following message:
