The System Maintenance facility provides the following system administration operations. In some cases restrictions apply to certain operations as access is restricted to high Priority users.
Consolidate Estimate Files: Removes all old estimates from the system that have exceeded their number of days retention. The retention periods can be set within the System parameters.
Note: Normally, this option should only be run as part of Timed Operations.
Prevent / Allow access: Used to either prevent users from entering the Bodyshop Estimating (BE) module or allow access as required. By preventing access new users can be barred from entering the Bodyshop Estimating module. When current users exit the module, this option can be used to prevent their re-entry.
Reset in-use flags: Resets any estimate records that are locked in use. Normally, estimate records would only be locked if another user is attempting to access the same estimate number at the same time. However it is possible for an estimate record to be locked 'in-use' if a terminal that has accessed an estimate suffers inadvertent power down.
Note:This program must ONLY be run when there are no other users within the Bodyshop Estimating system to avoid damaging data files. This option is normally run by a Timed Operation.
File usage statistics: Generates a report of the status of files in the Bodyshop Estimating module, warning automatically if any of them are becoming too full.
Verify files: Conducts verification of all Bodyshop Estimating data files. These verifications are run at a pre-defined level to ensure that the stored data is not damaged. This option is normally run in EOD by Timed Operation. as part of daily file/system check routines.
System parameters: The system parameters define how certain areas of the Bodyshop Estimating system operate. The system parameters are set up by a Autoline consultant when installing the system.
System controls: The system controls are set up at installation and under no circumstances should they be altered.
Create Files: Files are created and prepared when the system is installed. Access to the Create files option requires an access priority of nine and should be used only with guidance from Support.
