FTP (file transfer protocol) information enables Autoline to log in to a remote server to carry out a file transfer.
To enter FTP information:
Note: This process continues from selecting the transfer type using the wizard. It applies only when you select FTP as the Transfer type.
Enter FTP Hostname/IP, Login ID, and Password for Autoline to gain access to the remote server that the files are to be copied from/to.
Tip: You may leave FTP Hostname/IP, Login ID, and Password blank and set them when the record carries out a file transfer. This can be useful where several companies connect to the same system, each having its own login and password.
Note: FTP Hostname/IP can be in the form of a name in the host table or a standard IP address.
Enter the File type.
The tab is complete unless you need to tick Passive mode and/or Verify transfer.
If required, tick Passive mode and/or Verify transfer.
Note: Verification can be hard-coded, but this could cause problems on some systems unable to retrieve the transmitted file. By ticking Verify transfer, you can select the verify flag on a system by system basis.
Passive-mode file transfers (which some systems require) and/or transfer verification is enabled.
Click Next.
The Direction tab replaces the FTP Information tab.
Continue by following the instructions for specifying the transfer direction.
This tab is not user-selectable. It is one of a series displayed, each in turn, on the File Transfer Creation Wizard. It is displayed only if you selected the FTP (Connect to remote system) option button (radio button) on the Transfer type tab.
Tip: You can leave all settings except File type blank and configure them when the record carries out a file transfer. This can be useful where several companies connect to the same system, each having its own login and password.
FTP Hostname/IP: Identifies the remote system, as a name in the host table or a standard IP address, to which the file transfer program connects
Tip: You can leave FTP Hostname/IP, Login ID, and Password blank and specify them at the time of the transfer.
Login ID: Login ID to gain access to the remote system
Password: Password to gain access to the remote system
File type: Format of file to be sent. One of:
- A ASCII
- B Binary
Tip: Use the drop-down button
to select the File type.
Note: File type must be completed to enable the transfer. It can not be left blank to complete later.
Passive mode: A tick enables passive-mode file transfers, which some systems require.
Verify transfer: A tick causes the transferred file to be compared with the original. In the case of a PUT, it retrieves the transmitted file and compares it with the original.
Note: On remote systems that do not provide for file retrieval, you should not tick Verify transfer. If verification is set in the program itself, as distinct from ticking Verify transfer, verification is attempted regardless.
