Introduction

Volvo's Dealer Stocking Package (DSP) is a central parts-ordering system. An interface has been developed on the Autoline system that automates the loading into PURCHASE CONTROL of stock order and advice note data generated by Volvo. The suite of software includes automated supersession and price updates (partial and full-file).

Local Distribution Centres (LDC) Ready for Shipment

This is an extension to the DSP Parts Replenisher. It informs Volvo of parts that will be required in the future as cars are booked in for work. Volvo sends the parts just before the vehicle is due in. Receiving stock and booking it in remain largely unchanged except when creating bookings for vehicles and ordering Vehicle-off-Road (VOR) stock. LDC provides a VOR facility enabling you to send VOR orders to Volvo without the need to enter them manually in the Volvo Vision system. The changes to stock orders enable the Parts department to order VOR stock direct from the Autoline system.

Set-up

Before you can upload and submit data to, or from, Volvo, you must ensure that the Autoline system is set up correctly. This is normally carried out by, or on advice from, an Autoline consultant.

VOLVO UK DSP Menu

This menu is displayed when you select the DSP option from the VOLVO UK OPERATIONS Menu. It enables you to set up, maintain and run, your DSP system.

Movements and setup: Allows the Autoline consultant to submit the initial stock position to Volvo on set-up, and the dealer manually to submit stock movement (D40) and stock amendment (D32) files in the event of a problem with scheduled events. This is normally set up as a Priority 8 option which you must only run on advice from MS Support.

Scheduled jobs: In the event of a problem with scheduled events, this option allows you manually to upload either single files or all available files. This is normally set up as a Priority 8 option that you must only run on advice from MS Support.

Parts stock price update: Allows you to update prices and supersessions manually on the price file on advice from MS Support. This is normally set up as a Priority 8 option.

Spool reports: Allows you to print the DSP spool report which details all movements on the Autoline system. This report helps you to see how stock orders are generated and to compile Volvo Vision Class 3 orders. This is normally set up as a Priority 5 option.

Parameters: Allows you to set up and maintain the DSP parameters, including LDC Ready for Shipment. This is normally set up as a Priority 8 option.

DSP Parameters: This is normally a Priority 7 option that allows you to set up and maintain DSP parameters and enables the LDC Ready-for-Shipment facility in PURCHASE CONTROL.

Stock mirror file: Allows you to view the stock position at the time the last stock amendments file (D32) and stock movements file (D40) were produced. This is normally set up as a Priority 9 option usually used by MS Support, not the dealer.

Advice note menu: Allows you to view and print stock orders; view or print advice notes; update PURCHASE CONTROL; produce exception reports for advice notes and view exceptions on stock orders. This is normally set up as a Priority 5 option.

End-of-period update: The stock mirror file contains a record of the stock movements used to calculate the quantities in the stock movements file (D40). This is normally set up as a Priority 9 option which the Autoline MS scheduler runs automatically to produce an Expense Code Report (K04) and re-set the figures on the stock mirror file at the end of each period. In the event of a problem with scheduled events, this option is run manually by MS Support to carry out these tasks. You must not run this option without advice from MS Support.

Scheduled upload: Displays daemon log files and contains the facility to stop and start the daemon. This is available to Priority 9 users only.

Re-Send DSP Files: Enables you to transmit files that failed to transmit if the Volvo server was out of action when the file was created by the automated system. This is normally set up as a Priority 7 option.
